One night after a show in Williamsburg, my friends and I ended up at the Meatball Shop for provisions. The meal was drama-free until I accidentally set my hair on fire while carelessly leaning over a candle. Luckily, there was minimal char and no drastic haircuts were needed. But the restaurant smelled terrible and I was mortified. Then the dessert came. Creamy caramel ice cream sandwiched between two house-baked chocolate chip cookies. Is there a dessert as simple yet immensely gratifying that champions both form and function? Suddenly the world felt right again.
